Who We are…

The LNC is a truly exceptional place that provides all the necessary support systems to help young people with additional needs not only succeed in education but thrive in all aspects of modern life. From sports and trips away to everyday activities, we are committed to offering whatever support is needed to help them grow and excel.

However, young people with additional needs often require extra assistance to adapt to tasks, which inevitably leads to additional costs. These can range from the use of an adapted minibus for travel to the employment of specialist staff. Unfortunately, these costs are not always fully covered by school funding or personal payment allowances.

That’s where the LNC Charity Trust comes in. We are fundraising to help cover these essential expenses and ensure that we can continue to provide the vital support that allows our students to thrive.

The Lavinia Norfolk Centre (LNC) is a Specialist Support Facility for students with a physical or sensory impairment. Ofsted described the LNC as “a source of inspiration for all students” and said the LNC  provides “highly effective support for students with physical, medical or sensory disabilities.  This enables them to be fully integrated within the whole school creating an inclusive and respectful ethos.” The Department’s aim is to enable each student to be happy, reach their full potential, and to be as independent as possible, ready to play a full role in society, as adults.

This unique facility is recognised both at county and national level as a centre of excellence and expertise.

Ofsted stated “Disabled students, or those who need extra help, including those in The Lavinia Norfolk Centre, typically progress well. Some make outstanding progress, particularly in the Centre, given their level of need” and added “Pupils who have special educational needs and /or disabilities are very well supported across the school to access learning” and described their progress as “good” making students  “ready for life”.

The school has high aspirations for all students. Both the Learning Support Department and LNC are central to the school’s ethos of total inclusion, and play a very significant role in the learning of all students in the school.
