The Lavinia Norfolk Centre Charitable Trust
The Lavinia Norfolk Centre Charitable Trust is dedicated to supporting the Lavinia Norfolk Centre (LNC), a specialist facility within The Angmering School in West Sussex. Established in 1981, the Trust’s primary mission is to enhance the educational and developmental experiences of students with disabilities, including visual impairments, hearing impairments, and physical disabilities.
Fundraising Initiatives
Central to the Trust’s efforts is its commitment to fundraising. By generating financial support, the Trust provides resources beyond what is typically available through standard educational funding. These funds are allocated to various programs and facilities that directly benefit the students of the LNC.
Enhancing Educational Provisions
The Trust places a strong emphasis on enriching the educational journey of its students. This includes funding specialized equipment tailored to individual needs, supporting academic programs, and facilitating access to resources that promote learning and personal growth. By doing so, the Trust ensures that students receive a comprehensive education that addresses both their academic and personal development.
Supporting Disabled Sporting Activities
Recognizing the importance of physical activity, the Trust actively supports disabled sporting initiatives. Funds are directed towards adaptive sports programs, specialized equipment, and opportunities for students to engage in physical activities that promote health, teamwork, and self-confidence. This commitment ensures that all students, regardless of their physical abilities, have the chance to participate in and benefit from sports. Many of our students have gone on to compete at regional, national, and even international levels.
Promoting Social and Adult Skills
Beyond academics and sports, the Trust is dedicated to preparing students for life beyond school. This involves funding programs that teach essential social and adult skills, ensuring that students are equipped to navigate various social situations and lead independent lives. Workshops, real-world experiences, and mentorship opportunities are among the initiatives supported to foster these crucial skills. Notable successes include former students working in government, as professional spokespeople, and as TV and documentary creators. Many of our graduates have gone on to lead successful careers in a variety of fields.
Community Engagement and Support
The Trust’s impact is amplified through community engagement. Collaborations with local organizations and businesses have led to significant contributions, such as the £10,000 donation from The David Hunt Trust. These partnerships not only provide financial support but also raise awareness about the importance of inclusive education and the value of supporting students with disabilities.
Financial Stewardship
Transparency and effective financial management are pillars of the Trust’s operations. In the financial year ending June 30, 2024, the Trust reported an income of £23,104 and expenditures totaling £15,184. These funds were judiciously used to support various programs and initiatives that align with the Trust’s mission
